Race Cars and Fractal Images

Volume 18 Issue 10, October 2021

What's New in October?

We are experiencing some much drier weather, and with that we’re able to open the windows more often. It’s been nice enough to sleep at night while the temps dropped into the 60s, but the days have been back up into the 80s. It’s hit or miss this year.

I apologize for not taking any photos lately, so I’m sharing an older photo from this summer when I went to the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing. I grew up with cars and racing, and it’s a family thing. The museum is one of those places we’ve driven past for 35 years but never stopped in.

One day, we just stopped. It was huge and we spent several hours wandering around looking at everything. I am not a packrat; Don Garlits is a packrat. He had everything in his museum. From postcards with Hollywood legends on them to drag racing’s most iconic cars like the Prudhomme Army car pictured below. Old oil cans and used shoes; and cracked helmets and towering trophies. Something for everyone.

If you have a few minutes and love cars like I do, then check out his museum online. https://garlits.com/
