She Was Born in January

Always First

Janus is the god of the doorway, and there is nothing closer to a doorway into a new year than the month of January. Both hot and cold depending upon where in the world you are, January is a month of extremes. January rings in the new year, and it is the Thank You month. In some cultures, it is still the Christmas season.

The Personality:

She comes first on the calendar and brings the year in with a steadfast personality. She is symmetrical and neat. She is so wise. She is also ambitious with a loyal nature. Very sensitive, but hardworking and steady. She is family focused and loves her children. She can be very reserved and are naturally soft and gentle unless provoked. She is very healthy, but gets cold easily.
She is romantic, but has difficulty sharing it and may become jealous because she is too quiet.
She makes a magnificent designer, inventor, financial guru or musician. She loves to learn, and she loves to teach. Because she is  focused and critical of errors, she is a wonderful mathematician and is usually successful in careers that include finance. Oh, and she makes a wonderful aviator.
She can be wildly witty.
The January girl is pink, pink, pink.

The Signs:

Capricorn and Aquarius: The earthy goat and the waterbearer.

The Stone:

January babies are born under the beautiful garnet sky. The garnet is steadfast and true under duress.

The garnet is available in all the colors of the rainbow, although, a blue garnet is very rare. The garnet is a crystal formation that has been used throughout history as both a gemstone and an abrasive.
Some also recognize the emerald and the rose quartz as birth stones for the January child.

The Flower:

The versatile carnation is found in almost all standard floral bouquets, and it is a staple of most weddings, but it really belongs clip_image003to the women of January. A pretty Dianthus in pink is also that flower for those January babies.

The Chinese bestow the babes of January with Prunus Mume; a plum.

The Japanese declare the Camellia to be the best flower for the January child.

The Color:

Cottage pink is for those babies who lead the way into the year.

Hotrods and Number One Teacher

Volume 14 Issue 3, March 2017

What's New in March?

The cardinals are back in the feeder, even if only for a short time as they get ready to nest. They will show up here in droves in the next month or so. The doves on the other hand, have taken over the feeder and have run off everything from woodpeckers to blue jays. It’s spring and everyone is territorial. We had one hour influx of every robin and starling in the country covering the ground, and then they were gone just as quickly as they came.

Have been really busy with adding a lot of cool coffee mugs and such to my website, as well as designing the new Just Beachy line of home accessories. In addition, I have been working very hard to start putting things together to clear out of the studio. I will be getting rid of the majority of my polymer clay as I change brands, and I will be destashing a number of findings and other such stuff that I will never have time to use.

Spring Cleaning is afoot!

On other fronts, I am working on more thimble designs. I have not put Just Beachy on it as of yet but that is a consideration for later. There are still so many projects on the board, and so little time to do them.

Collectible Thimbles: I have added a number of new designs like shamrocks and hummingbirds, and the Mother’s Day 2017 thimble now has a matching coffee mug.

Hot Rod Mugs: I am working on transferring my hotrod mugs to the website. At this point, there are a few of them at my original Etsy shop, but not on my website yet. Getting there.

You will find all of my beads, canes and finished jewelry on my website. www.bluemorningexpressions.com

Until next month,

Julie & Blu

Things to Look Forward To:

New Products:

Hotrod magnets: I am finishing up the hotrod magnets, and I have a couple dozen done, but not featured in the shop.

Leggings: Yes, I am doing some leggings too.

Print Pieces: I am working on a range of beach theme pieces that include pillows, towels, table clothes and more. In addition, I am doing a lot of floral designs for homes and finishing my hotrods.

Just Beachy and Collectible Thimbles

Volume 14 Issue 2, February 2017

What's New in February?

Moving forward with new products like my Mother’s Day and Easter collectible thimbles featuring my decals, as I get some of my other projects off my schedule. Like moving all of my cross stitch patterns to a new website. That has been six months in the making, but now is done.

I am putting together my first collection of household gifts. I took a rather informal poll amongst my newsletter readers and it was decided that they wanted to see a collection of like pieces, as well as the ability to buy them individually. My first collection is likely to include mugs, plates, placemats and possibly a table runner from my Just Beachy graphics.

Other than that, just enjoying a little cold snap in my part of Florida before we have to contend with hot, muggy weather.

Front and back of my new Victorian Easter cross thimble.

Collectible Thimbles: Added Easter, another humming bird and a shamrock with this last update of thimbles. On deck include some ideas for crafters and other groups, as well as personalized photos.

Hot Rod Mugs: My 32 Ford images have been very popular, and I discovered that Zazzle partnered with Ford to consolidate all of the Ford images into the Ford store, so I am offering MY Ford art on my website rather than Zazzle.

You will find all of my beads, canes and finished jewelry on my website. www.bluemorningexpressions.com

Until next month,

Julie & Blu

32 Fords and Mother’s Day

Volume 14 Issue 1, January 2017

What's New in January?

I seem to be surprised with how fast time goes, and once again, here we are at another year. Blu and I have been doing this for almost 14 years, and he is going to be 14 on the first of the year. It started out with selling my art and photography, and then I discovered polymer clay where it took over all of my creativity. After all of this time, I still love polymer and continue to create in it, but not as much as I did.

In fact, I am slowing going back to my art and photography for my creativity. I love to work in Photoshop, and I had forgotten how much fun it is to draw on my computer tablet. You might see more of these types of things from me as the year moves forward. I have so much polymer canes and clay that I need to make a lot of beads soon. For the moment though, I am working in graphics and translating that into collectible thimbles and other products.

Like my series of Valentine’s Day bears like this one.

Collectible Thimbles: Over 50 thimbles were sold this Christmas season from my Amazon store, and that pushed me to not only stock up on blanks, but to create new ones. There are four Valentine’s Day thimbles and two Mother’s Day thimbles done and a whole list of others that I am busy drawing the graphics for now.
