*** Please notice, everyone, that pinning is a bit different on the Countdown with the Pinterest pin button - at least for me. When I pin with the Pinterest button, an InLinkz redirect comes up (has never happened before in all these years). For Etsy, it goes to the item page just fine after a bit. But for my shop on Indiemade, I have to click the X in the upper right corner to close out the InLinkz thingy that comes up and then pin from my item like normal. If you don't close out the InLinkz thingy at the top, you just pin the InLinkz pic. Please make sure you actually pin the item. I like to pin items from the Pinterest pin button on my dashboard rather than pin from Inlinkz since you get an actual back link (which we all want). Like I said, it seems Etsy is fine - just make sure you're pinning the actual item from peeps on other hosting platforms.
It seems if you pin from the thumbnail on InLinkz, it pins just fine. But, like I mentioned above, you don't get a back link if you use the pin icon there.
Hope all this makes sense. Let me know if you're experiencing the same thing.
Hi Catherine, for me, there are 3 ways to do the pinning. First, by open the listing and use the Pinterest extension button on my Chrome. Second, also open the listing and click on the Pinterest share button but this depends on the platforms. Yours, mine, and Etsy seem to have that but Red Bubble (I think) do not have that, so I would use my extension button. Third, the one that I will do for Twitter Tree is click on Pin button on the InLinkz thumbnails, that way I do not need to open the listing just for pinning (as we do copy and paste for the tweets left in the comments section). The reason I do this is hopefully to reduce bounce rates (as I am learning about SEO). High bounce rate leads google to not like our links, thinking that they are not worthwhile clicking since people are in and out so quick in a matter of seconds. Hence we will have a hard time reaching a higher google rank for our products. Also, I still think you get the backlinks from this method as people who come across our pins can click on the item and it directs them to the original listing. Please correct me if I am wrong. Now for the Countdowns and Tuesday Tags, I open each thumbnail and do the tweeting and pinning from the listings. I normally open several listings into separate tabs. I hope by opening them for longer than a few seconds, while I do the pin and tweet, will reduce the bounce rates. Let me know what you guys think.
I do a lot of the same things you do, Natalie, except I pin from the item and not from InLinkz. Like you, I leave each item page open when when tweeting and pinning for at least a minute or two so it doesn't look like ping-ponging to Google (being on that item page for just a few seconds before leaving it). Believe me, I usually have a LOT of item tabs open at the same time when doing this - LOL! According to InLinkz, since they are no follow, you do not get a backlink or PageRank from InLinkz. But you definitely will if someone sees the pin or tweet from your InLinkz item and then visits your shop. InLonkz is no follow because of not wanting to be categorized as black hat link building, a big no-no to Goggle.
I don't know what is going on with Inlinkz, but you have to click through the affiliate link to get to the actual landing page for the item being shared. I don't know if this will be fixed or if this is a new "feature". I'm working on finding out now, but if this is a redirect that does not benefit us, there might be no reason to do anymore countdowns with Inlinkz.
Thank you, Julie! I'll be sharing on Pinterest and the blog on my page on Facebook. For those you of who don't know, I lost my old FB pages a few months ago. I have new ones.

Just noticed that when you click on Natalie's items, that you are not redirected all the way through. Like my items, you need to click the X in the upper right corner to be taken to the item page.
Wonder if this is because we have our own websites? As opposed to being on Shopify or Etsy? Who knows . . . Hope InLinkz can get it figured out.
This morning, Natalie's clicked through, but I also had a lot of tabs opened, so maybe by the time I got to hers, they had already refreshed. I have not heard back from Inlinkz yet, but my support ticket is in.
Left one of Nat's open for a good 10 minutes and it never redirected. Had to click the X at the upper right to go to her page. Otherwise, if I just pinned from what originally comes up, the InLinz ad thingy is pinned, not her item.
Good morning all! So glad to see all these familiar names. As you all know, I will no longer be posting anything but I am so happy to promote everyone! All will be pinned, tweeted and hash-tagged as always. Happy sales to you all.
Thank you, Julie and Harry, for hosting another Mother's day Countdown!
ReplyDeletePinning and scheduling tweets for each item and will share the blog everywhere.

I hope the InLinkz thingy gets fixed. It slows things down a bit.
